Rovinj

Our final stop in Croatia was Rovinj.  Located in the Istrian Peninsula, the town is still an active fishing port but is mostly supported by the tourist trade.  During the summer months, it can be difficult to find a room.  Thankfully, I had booked what turned out to be a fabulous location in the heart of it all.

There isn't much to say about Rovinj except it is gorgeous.  Much like a little Venice (it was ruled by the Venetians for many years) there are many nooks and cranny's to discover down winding narrow streets.  We decided to hit the beach first and then meander through the streets in search of our dinner.  After a fabulous seaside meal, we walked over to the main boardwalk that juts out into the sea to watch the sunset.  Sadly, we only had the one day in Rovinj, but maybe another trip is in order on the off season.

Coming into the city from parking.

The sea.  Almost to our beach...

The beach.  As with most of the Croatian coastline - it is rock.  We decided to try this spot first because the entrance was nicer on our feet (those pebbles HURT) but this one had too many water crawlies for us...
 Back to the ouchie rock...

The girls still had a fabulous time in the water.

A refreshing drink and we were off to explore the city.

Those streets!

City gates...

Dinner with a view.  Postre with taste...

Out on the pier before sunset...

Goodnight Rovinj...

Sisters!

 Family!
