A L.O.L. Party

Stinkerbell is turning 9 at the end of the month.  We celebrated a few weeks early because the flurry of activity at the end of the school year, combined with all of the summer birthday kids throwing their parties, added to the fact that many of her friends will be moving/going home the day after her birthday makes it almost impossible to throw a party any closer to the actual day.

This year she decided on an L.O.L themed party.  The surprise dolls are all the rage in her school right nowThe theme was the easy part; the what and where was a bit harder.  After booking her first choice not once, not twice, but three times and having them cancel it on me each time we crossed it off of our list (forever).  So, her second choice it was - a private painting party.  Where we would paint a canvas with, what else, an L.O.L doll.  And then we would decorate our own cupcakes with sprinkles and diamonds and colored sugars.

Saturday was the big day and with 8 of her friends (and sister) Stinkerbell painted, decorated and certainly L.O.L'ed.  What a fun way to spend the afternoon and celebrate the one that always makes us Laugh Out Loud!  Happy (early) Birthday Stinkerbell!

An Indoor Luau

It's somehow becoming a yearly thing that we don't celebrate MadHatters birthday with friends in party fashion until March.  There were crazy reasons for it last year (recap here) but this year it was more of a plan and the fact that she couldn't decide what type of party she wanted or whom she wanted to invite.   When she finally figured it out, I got together with my friend J, who was also planning a party at the same location and we decided to through both kids birthday parties together.   And her brilliant idea was we should do it on the Friday we had off of school for a PD Day so it would be less crowded (the German schools were still in session).  Win-Win.  And that is how we ended up having a Luau, at one of the largest thermal spas in Europe.

With over 20 indoor slides (including the longest tube slide in Europe), a wave pool, hot tubs and a lazy river, we didn't expect to see the kids for much of the time we were there.  And we were right.  They popped in for a snack or two here and there but for the most part, they were off having what I am told is a fantastic time.  Which also leave me with few pictures other than the food and a quick snap of a few of the kids before cake.  I guess that is the price you pay for one happy 10-year-old...

Fish and Chips (Goldfish and Potato chips), Driftwood (Pretzel sticks) and Clams (cookies with frosting and candy eyes)

Ocean Water punch (and those eyes just follow you everywhere)

MadHatter, A and M (the only two girls she invited to the party)

The birthday kids before blowing out candles...

{Almost} 8!

We jumped.  We cartwheeled.  We flipped and flopped and threw ourselves at the walls.  We battled.  We fell.  We laughed and played and celebrated.  And then we collapsed from exhaustion and replenished our bodies with sugar (what else are parties for?).  Stinkerbell declared it the best party ever (until next year).  Happy Pre-8 Stinkerbell!

One pleased as punch (and flexible) 8-year old (to be)!

This one shared her birthday with Stinkerbell as it was her actual birthday!
