If you haven't heard of St. Nicholas and why we celebrate him on the 6th of December, click here to read a blog post I did a few years back.
Caught up? Good.
The girls woke early and eagerly on Tuesday morning. For once I did not have to ask twice for them to get out of bed and get dressed, brush their hair and their teeth and meet me in the kitchen. It was the morning after St. Nicholas' visit after all. One of a small handful of days that gets MadHatter moving more like a cheetah than a sloth. And because it was a school day I made the girls get ready before I allowed them to rush to see what was left behind for them.
Bounding out of their rooms they rushed down the hall and saw this...
Their stockings had been replaced with small boots filled with...money?
I took them down for them and sat them in the family room where there was more light and we could figure this out. MadHatter pulled the papers from the boots and started reading. Seems the money was from Santa Clause and it was given to them because they had been naughty...
They were both a bit stunned for a moment until Stinkerbell stated reading the line where there names were supposed to be and it said - Just kidding. I stole your stockings and your candy. Few, now they just had to find Fidget and what she did with their things.
It took them a few minutes of searching but they found the rascally elf - under a pile of pillows and blankets eating her own candy.
Playtime over, it was time to dig in. There was chocolates and an orange (totally traditional gifts) and a few trinkets for the girls too...
Bag charms that both of them have been asking for since January...
a small toy each has been wanting...
and a book for each (Stinkerbell's is Christmas sticker scenes).
Happy St. Nicholas to everyone. I hope your start to the holiday season was as much fun as ours.
