It's been all the rage in the United States for many years now. A group of (usually) women get together for an evening of art and wine. You start with a glass and some snacks and then head to your blank canvases ready to learn how to create your masterpiece. Unfortunately, this is not all the rage in Europe. Until now. At least here in Munich.
We are lucky enough to have C. She teaches art to the littlest of the elementary school students as an after-school activity and also runs an art school named Little Picassos. Once a month, she rents a space and puts on a Wine and Paint night right near my home. When my friend M mentioned it to me we hatched a plan to get on the calendar...2 months down the road. And that date was last Friday. It meant missing Stinkerbell's second performance in Peter Pan (see her first here...) but B was going to be there so I didn't feel too bad.
I was so happy to be invited to such a fun evening with a great group of friends. And since I haven't painted in many, many, many years (guys, I was asked not to take art as an elective again in high school) it was a treat to sit down and see what I could do. With C's instructions and a bit of wine, I think we all did really well. See what you think...
Blank canvases, ready to go!
A few instructions first...
Canvases primed and some clouds put in. It's all about layering...
Diligently adding another layer. I am not quite sure what M is doing but it looks like she might be adding another layer over whatever it is she just completed.
Looking good ladies.
Finished products. I love how they are all completely different!
My...masterpiece???
